our work – City of London Police #1
Securing the future of the Square Mile
Services: Event interpreting
Industries: Government and NGO

The City of London Police is responsible for protecting the United Kingdom’s financial, residential and historic cultural centre in the heart of London, known as the Square Mile.
This highly specialised police force, which leads the world in the development and use of innovative technology and partnerships to prevent crime, is the national lead force for the investigation of economic crime and is home to the Economic Crime Academy, Action Fraud, the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and the Overseas Anti-Corruption Unit (OACU).

Secure, efficient event management
In June 2014, the City of London Police held the first European Union Cross-Border Task Force conference on bribery and corruption in London. Delegates at the event were from nations across Europe and it was imperative that information, much of it technical and sensitive, was communicated accurately and clearly in multiple languages so that everyone could understand.

Our expertise
Guildhawk’s event interpreting services for the City Police included project management; interpreting booths and equipment; simultaneous interpreters; document translation; and audio and video recording of presentations. We provided a dedicated project manager who made site visits to ensure our delivery plan met all the client’s evolving requirements. We supplied the details of all our precision language professionals to the client to ensure the highest possible standard of security.
The event progressed smoothly – even when one delegate made the unexpected decision to speak across an interpreter, which we handled efficiently and discreetly. After the event, AV recordings were edited and translated and supplied to the police in a secure digital format. More recently, we have also supplied key data extraction for the City of London Police.
