Guildhawk and Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) are proud to announce that their two pioneering Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) have been selected as part of the “50 Success Stories” celebrating 50 years of the KTP programme.

This national recognition by Innovate UK honours the most impactful collaborations between UK businesses and academia. The first KTP led to the creation of GAI Translate, Guildhawk’s proprietary AI translation SaaS software, which has become the industry leader and won the Safety and Security Entrepreneur Awards (SSEAs) in 2025.

The second KTP focuses on an advanced data labelling method, with Guildhawk and SHU collaborating to improve machine learning accuracy and efficiency in sensitive areas, aiming to produce high-quality data amid rising cyberthreats.

KTP roundtable discussions are held weekly at Sheffield Hallam University campus, Sheffield, UK.

We’re thrilled to be recognised for our commitment to ethical innovation.

Said Jurga Žilinskienė MBE, CEO of Guildhawk.

“These KTPs have helped us turn bold ideas into real-world technologies that are transforming global communication.”

Professor Chris Roast, academic lead on the first KTP, added:

“GAI Translate is a great example of how academic insight can drive commercial innovation with global impact.”

Professor Alex Shenfield, leading the second KTP, commented:

“High-quality data is the foundation of trustworthy AI. Our work is helping to solve a critical bottleneck in the development of intelligent systems.”

The KTP programme, funded by Innovate UK, has supported thousands of partnerships since 1975. Being featured in the 50th anniversary showcase highlights the exceptional outcomes of the Guildhawk-Sheffield Hallam collaboration, setting the benchmark for future industry-academic innovation.
