OUR WORK – Optum

Two million words in a week

Services: Human translation and consultancy

Industries: Technology

For employee well-being and personal development, few are doing more than Optum, one of the world’s leading providers of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP).

Their mission is to help employees in countries around the world become more productive, present and engaged. The online EAP platforms are vast – with the English version alone consisting of almost 200,000 words.

A large, complex project

One of our earliest commissions for Optum was the localisation of their EAP platform into 10 major languages with just a week to complete the project. It was also essential that all text met the Flesch-Kincaide readability test. Given the vast size of the project, it was clear that a large number of qualified, trustworthy language professionals would be required – as well as extremely precise project management.

Guildhawk met the extremely tight deadline and helped Optum to sell their EAP platform in a greater number of global territories.

Our expertise

Guildhawk sourced more than 50 translators and proofreaders with industry experience and expertise to work on the localisation project simultaneously. The project was managed using Microsoft Sharepoint to allow our language professionals to work collaboratively with the team at Optum and ensure consistency.

It was an approach that paid dividends. Guildhawk met the extremely tight deadline and helped Optum to sell their EAP platform in a greater number of global territories. The successful delivery of the project resulted in a trusted business relationship that has seen us work with Optum on a number of their subsequent undertakings, for example translating and typesetting marketing materials into more than 25 languages.
