With influence spanning almost 100 nations, the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) is a non-governmental, non-profit cooperative of national research institutions.
Its mission is conducting the highest quality comparative research to drive best practice in worldwide education.
An incredible global collaboration
Among the IEA’s flagship studies is the International Civic and Citizenship Study (ICCS) monitoring young people’s attitudes to and experiences of civic education in 24 countries. Changes are then tracked over time – an enormous undertaking at such scale.
Over a period of six months, Guildhawk’s project managers worked collaboratively and consultatively with IEA, providing centralised reference materials and instructions.
Our expertise
Guildhawk was asked to review and verify all national versions of the assessment instruments, eliminating typographical errors and assessing cultural fit. Equally vital was continuity of exact terminology from previous research cycles to allow accurate trend analysis.
Over a period of six months, Guildhawk’s project managers worked collaboratively and consultatively with IEA, providing centralised reference materials and instructions. Coordinating such a large team of linguists, as well as building and applying comprehensive glossaries required painstaking attention to detail and expert workflow systems.
With the 2016 research now successfully delivered, the ICCS team is already planning the next phase in 2022.
